How to choose

It comes down to phones priced per number, or a cloud suite of calls, meetings and chat priced per user.

Choose UniFi Talk if

  • Several people share a numberTalk is billed per number, so a front desk or a ring group of five pays one subscription. RingCentral bills each user.
  • You want it easy to useCalls follow your hours and ring the right people, set up in one app with nothing to program.
  • You want the door on your phoneA Talk phone answers the door intercom, shows the camera and opens the door, on the same console as your network.

Choose RingCentral if

  • Your team lives in meetings and chatRingCentral bundles video meetings and team chat with the phones. Talk is a phone system, and does not replace them.
  • You have no officeTalk runs on a console in a building. A fully remote company is better served by a phone system in the cloud.
  • You run a contact centerRingCentral sells RingCX, a contact center with agent tools and CRM integrations. Ubiquiti’s terms rule out call-center use on Talk.

Common questions

Yes. We port the numbers from RingCentral, and the old service stays live until the transfer completes.

They can be lost. RingCentral may release numbers that have not been ported away when an account closes, so the port starts while the old service is still live.

Often. Phones you bought from RingCentral are standard SIP phones, and Talk takes third-party SIP phones. Rented phones go back to RingCentral when the service ends.

It depends on how many people need a phone and which RingCentral plan you’re on. Bring a recent RingCentral bill to the site visit and we’ll price Talk against it.

Talk handles phone calls. An office that moves can keep the meeting tool it already uses, such as Teams, Zoom or Google Meet.

Yes. On Talk’s Pro plan, the business number goes on staff cell phones, and a call to the main line can ring the desk phone and the cell together.
