Moved over a weekend, with no downtime
When this flooring company moved to a much larger warehouse, we upgraded its network and phones and had them working before staff came in on Monday.

What they needed
We had built the network in the company’s previous building. About five years on, the move to a much larger warehouse, with a dock and an office, was a natural time for a refresh.
The old network ran on older UniFi hardware and two 24-port switches. The phones were aging Yealink desk sets on a FreePBX system that was starting to fail, and it was complicated enough that nobody in the office could make changes to it.
What went in
- Replaced the old gateway and controller with a UDM Pro
- Replaced two 24-port switches with a single 48-port PoE switch
- Moved their existing access points, two U6 LR and an AC LR, to the new building
- Moved the phones from FreePBX onto UniFi Talk with 12 new desk phones, and ported the two numbers the office still needed
- Worked alongside their low-voltage contractor, who pulled the new cable
- Put one door on UniFi Access as a pilot, with a door hub and reader, and added one camera
- Brought the core up over the move weekend and came back for the pilot hardware
What changed
Staff left the old building on Friday and came in on Monday to a working network and phones. The two numbers the office kept came over without a gap.
UniFi Talk is the change they notice most. They can now see their call activity and make changes themselves, where the old system was too complicated to touch.
The door pilot gets daily use for its schedule and remote unlock. Some staff badge in at the reader, and the old keypad is still wired in beside it for those who prefer it.
The access points cover most of the warehouse, the showroom and the office. We still look after the system.
