Every system ready for the first service
A congregation moving into a fully renovated church had every system in place for its first service, and the project came in on budget.

When we decided to relocate our church to an existing facility, we knew that there would be a large gap in modern technology that we weren’t prepared to face alone. That’s where Magnetics stepped in. A complete facility upgrade from WIFI and access control to AV and cameras. They were able to meet all our needs at a great price. Now we have a church facility that is not only safe for our members but easy to operate for our volunteers.

What they needed
We had looked after the network in the church’s previous building. When the congregation moved to an old traditional church that was being completely renovated, they brought us in while the work was still being planned.
The new building needed everything: Wi-Fi, a wired network, cameras, door access, phones, and the sound and video for services and streaming.
What went in
- Planned every system with the general contractor while the renovation was still being designed
- Specified 144 Cat6 and fiber runs, and supplied the cable, wall plates and tools for the church’s electrician to pull them and terminate the wall plates
- Terminated and tested every run at the patch panels, and corrected the ones that needed it
- Built the network rack around a fiber core switch, and reused the church’s five existing access points
- Installed 11 cameras with a recorder on site and live views on two screens
- Put five doors on UniFi Access, with fobs, cards and Touch Pass set up for staff and volunteers in UniFi Identity
- Set up two desk phones on UniFi Talk
- Put together a full AV package for services and streaming, with sound, lighting, cameras, a broadcast mixer, a video wall processor and architectural controls, reusing as much of the church’s existing equipment as possible

What changed
Everything was ready for the first service in the new building.
Staff and volunteers run it day to day, and the part they like most is the one they didn’t expect to: the doors. People get in with a fob, a card or their phone. The doors unlock for a service once the first staff member arrives and relock once it starts, and the security and tech teams can lock the whole building down with one button. Their one regret is not putting more doors on the system.
Unlocking a door disarms the alarm, and the fire alarm releases every door. When the fire alarm went off, the doors opened as they should.
The church had no cameras before, and the camera system has been as popular as the doors.
The project came in on budget. The church has added to the system since, as we suggested ways to make the building easier to run, and we still look after it.
