Where the Pro Max tops out
The Dream Machine Pro Max is where our business installations start, and it covers most of them with room to spare. For the few sites that need more, we install the Dream Machine Beast.
What the Beast brings
Next to the Pro Max, the Beast has twice the memory, five times the capacity for inspecting traffic, and room for more than three times as many devices and connected clients. It also has 25G fiber ports, so the link to your core switch is never the bottleneck.

- 16 GBMemory
- 25 GbpsThreat inspection
- 750+UniFi devices
- 7,500+Connected clients

Redundancy that keeps the site running
As with the Pro Max, we recommend a pair for almost every site, with the second Beast kept in sync and ready to take over if the first fails. Both gateways can also take a DC power backup, which keeps them running if their own power supply fails.
When we recommend it
Most businesses don’t need a Beast. A single office or shop fits comfortably on a Pro Max. We recommend the Beast for a site with any of the following:
- More than 150 UniFi devices
- More than 2,000 people connecting at once
- A multi-gig internet line that runs busy for much of the day
- Multiple gigabits of traffic moving between separate networks
We size camera storage separately. For a large camera system, we add a UniFi recorder of its own, with more drives, so you can keep footage longer.
